Peptide nomenclature and sequences
Peptide sequences are written from the N-terminus to the C-terminus using amino acid abbreviations — either three-letter (Gly-His-Lys) or one-letter (GHK) codes.
Many research peptides also carry chemical modifications, such as acetylation or amidation, or are supplied as a salt form like acetate, which can appear on documentation.
Coded designations are sometimes used in place of common names; on Apexia, certain products use vial codes rather than chemical names.
Reading a sequence and its modifications helps confirm that material matches what a study calls for.
